Capacitor

components

A capacitor is a component that stores and releases electrical energy. It consists of two conductive plates separated by an insulating material (dielectric). Capacitance is measured in farads (F), with most practical values in microfarads (μF) or smaller. Capacitors are used for filtering, timing, coupling, and energy storage. Safety note: capacitors can retain a dangerous charge even after power is removed.
