Charge

fundamentals

Charge is a fundamental property of matter that causes it to experience electromagnetic force. There are two types: positive charge (carried by protons) and negative charge (carried by electrons). Opposite charges attract each other while like charges repel. The movement of charge through a conductor is what we call electric current, and the unit of charge is the coulomb (C).
