Electromotive Force (EMF)

Electromotive force (EMF) is the voltage generated by a source such as a battery or generator, measured in volts (V). Despite the name, EMF is not actually a force but a potential difference that drives current through a circuit. It represents the energy per unit charge provided by the source.
