Inductor

components

An inductor is a coil of wire that stores energy in a magnetic field when current flows through it. Inductance is measured in henrys (H). Inductors oppose changes in current — they pass DC easily but resist AC. They are the key component in transformers, motors, filters, and switching power supplies. Interrupting current through an inductor can produce voltage spikes.
