Load

A load is any device or component in a circuit that consumes electrical energy and converts it into another form of energy. Light bulbs convert electricity to light and heat, motors convert it to mechanical motion, and speakers convert it to sound. Every useful circuit has at least one load — without a load, a circuit has no purpose and connecting source to source would create a dangerous short circuit.
