Open Circuit

An open circuit is a break in the electrical path that prevents current from flowing. It can be intentional, like flipping a switch to the off position, or accidental, like a broken wire or corroded connection. In an open circuit, voltage may still be present at the source, but no current flows because the loop is incomplete.
