Relay

A relay is an electrically operated switch that uses an electromagnetic coil to open or close a set of contacts. A small control current energizes the coil, which pulls the contacts closed (or open) to switch a separate, often higher-power circuit. Relays provide electrical isolation between the control circuit and the load. They are used in automotive systems, HVAC, home automation, and industrial controls.
