Volt

A volt (V) is the unit of electrical pressure, also called potential difference or electromotive force. It measures how strongly electricity is being pushed through a circuit. Named after Alessandro Volta, who invented the first chemical battery. Common examples: a AA battery is 1.5V, a car battery is 12V, and a US household outlet provides 120V.
