Voltage

fundamentals

Voltage is the electrical pressure that pushes electrons through a circuit. It is measured in volts (V), named after Alessandro Volta. Voltage is also known as electromotive force (EMF) or potential difference. In a water analogy, voltage is like water pressure — the higher the pressure, the more water (current) flows through the pipe (conductor).
